A Story, A Promise
Days before her father’s death, Maeley made him a promise — to share their story.
Maeley was raised in confusion — her father was religious, angry and obsessed with the power of his job. Maeley had privilege but also deep unhappiness. She found solace in the forest with the trees and stars.
Music saved Maeley. It was music that connected her to a wise mentor and to unlikely new friends. Music communicated a message — Maeley’s privilege was harming her beloved friends and their families. It was through music Maeley learned how to listen.
As Maeley’s family unraveled with hardship and division, her struggles taught her to unlearn and change.
Maeley’s story is a true one. It is a story of our time.
